Roshni Ghar

Roshni Ghar is a mental health organisation that provides culturally appropriate, responsive services for South Asian women experiencing mental ill health. We work with clients to set realistic and achievable goals to assist with their recovery and to encourage self-care with support.  All staff at Roshni Ghar are multilingual and are able to support and converse with clients in their preferred spoken language, thereby reducing barriers and improving communication.

In 2017 clients from Umeed group participated in the Emerald study and since then we have been supporting the DIAMONDS research. Umeed group offers a relaxing, safe and creative environment, enabling women to develop networks of friendship and explore self-help techniques and coping mechanisms, thereby reducing social isolation. Referrals for this group come directly from Community Mental Health Team and Airedale hospital. Furthermore, some clients are accompanied by their carers who can also seek support from Roshni Ghar, other clients are accompanied by their support workers. This group meets once a week at Roshni Ghar and consists of high dependency need clients. It is a small group offering in depth and specific tailored support. It is open to the clients, their carers and support workers.
